Runaway and Homeless Youth Program in Madison County (RHY)
The goal of Catholic Charities’ Runaway and Homeless Youth Program is to alleviate the problems of runaway and homeless youth in Madison County and the subsequent dangers associated with their absence from parental supervision. We provide services that facilitate a more stable living environment for the youth of Madison County, working to reunite youth with their families, where feasible, strengthen family relationships and, ultimately, empower youth to develop into independent, responsible and self-sufficient contributing members of society. The Runaway & Homeless Youth program through Catholic Charities of Oneida & Madison County is in need of Host Homes. Opening your home on a short term basis to a youth can be a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The Host Home plays a vital role by offering a temporary safe shelter and a nurturing environment to a youth in crisis. The Host family’s example of a stable home gives the youth the tools and confidence needed to return to his or her family. Catholic Charities staff will work closely with the Host family and youth during the placement so that all involved has the support they need. If you feel this is something you would like to consider please call Carrie Messier (At-Risk-RHY Case Manager) at 315- 363-5274 for more information.
